After two years of planning, construction has begun along the water’s edge on not one but two Resort enhancement projects – The
Lighthouse at Oyster Bay, a luxury 18-unit, oceanfront whole ownership building, and a new 40-unit timeshare pavilion being built on the location of the old junior
suites.
It may not be “two for the price of one,” but the value of having MNO Vervat, a large and reliable Dutch contractor, work on both
projects simultaneously is threefold, says Oyster Bay Beach Resort Co-Managing Director Joshua Gold.
“Having the whole ownership and timeshare condominiums built at the same time gives us the best prices and minimizes the impact of
construction on our guests,” says Gold. “And the timeshare units will enjoy a higher quality of finishes and detail than would normally be afforded
to a timeshare development – even a five-star resort like Oyster Bay.”
The new four-story timeshare pavilion will be situated just 30 feet from the oceanfront – about 30 feet closer than the junior suites
– and include an elevator at either end of the building. As envisioned by Orlando, Fl., architect Joseph Sistler, the design expresses simple lines and elegant
contours. Each unit will boast luxury finishes and furnishings and feature the Resort’s signature spacious balconies hanging over the ocean’s crashing waves.
“Another significant improvement will be the increased size of the lockout units, making the use of Oyster Bay’s unique lockout
feature more enjoyable and economical,” points out Michael Dolente, Co-Managing Director. “Every one of the 20 two-bedroom condominium units will be a
lockout unit.”
The new building’s exterior will most likely be painted a seafoam green, similar to the existing buildings in the Resort, but with a slightly deeper hue and accented
by pastel colors. The units will all have granite kitchen and bathroom countertops and solid maple wood cabinetry, with a premium kitchen appliance package in the lockout units.
Providing interior decoration for both projects are Destination Interiors and Pamela Temples Design Group, the
firm that handled the Resort ’s recent well-received redecoration. The estimated completion date for both the timeshare and condominium buildings is April
2009. Once finished, all of the new timeshare units will be open for reservations on a regular basis by any timeshare owners at Oyster Bay Beach Resort.

The chance to own a piece of paradise outright has proven too good to pass up for some lucky buyers of The Lighthouse, which is selling briskly
as construction begins. This past spring, Oyster Bay owners were given first dibs at non-binding reservations before they were offered to the general public. Most of
the units were reserved before the end of the summer, and by the time full construction approval was granted and ground was broken, 11 of the condos had been sold,
with two more under reservation.
“While most of the buyers have been long-time Oyster Bay Beach Resort timeshare owners, a few have never owned units here but have all stayed
as guests and have fallen in love with the Oyster Pond area,” says Susan Coquin, exclusive broker and sales agent for The Lighthouse. “The spectacular architecture and location
of the building are just two of the elements that make The Lighthouse such a wonderful choice. Every condominium has
a view to die for.”
The rooftop boasts an infinity swimming pool with an ocean view, a spacious, all-glass atrium clubhouse and a modern spa – all with sweeping
360-degree panoramic views of the ocean and the Oyster Pond Marina. Also included on the rooftop are a hot tub and a sunbathing/social-gathering area for rooftop
cocktails and stargazing.
“What’s driving the popularity of the condos is their generous size – an average of 2,400 square feet – and
the comfortable flow of the rooms,” adds Susan. “With pre-construction prices starting at $675,000 USD, people see that this is a great opportunity.”
The remaining condominiums are expected to be sold within the next several months, so if you’ve been thinking about taking this exciting
step, the time to make your move is now!

Dear Editor:
I have been an owner at Oyster Bay Beach Resort since 2003, and I never thought I would be writing a letter to the editor – especially not
when it’s going to 14,000 other owners!
But I just had to let you know how much my family has enjoyed being at the resort during Owners Appreciation Weeks the last three years. Septembers
used to be so dull, but now they are fun-filled and exciting with all of the free activities. And this past September was without a doubt the best experience yet!
We had a fabulous time as the Oyster Bay entertainment staff (Susan, Ingrid, Vince and Latoya) cooked up great fun for us all. We took the Eagle Catamaran to Tintamare Island
for a scrumptious barbeque and mud bath. When the mud was caked and dry, we went for a relaxing dip in the clear, aquamarine water off the beach. What a terrific day!
But the crowning experience of our trip was the on-site Carnival, a new event put on by the resort this year. Led by our very own King Beau Beau and his lovely wife
Annemarie, the event gave all of us owners a chance to experience a taste of the St. Maarten Carnival that takes place in the spring. I don’t know whether it was the liquor, the wild
dancing or the exotic masks and costumes the OBBR staff gave us, but I never felt less inhibited in my life. Our family joined other owners in congaing our way around the resort and into the
night, alternatively stuffing delectable free food down our throats and guzzling free exotic liquor (of course our children didn’t do that). At some point pure ecstatic frenzy took
over…The next morning, we awoke to the most marvelous breakfast buffet at the Infinity, now under the management of Spartaco – a wonderful restaurateur who we’re told
has been in St. Maarten for 30 years.
OBBR has always been our vacation home, and the staff is like our family. Getting to enjoy all of the fun free activities on top of spending another glorious week at the
resort was just icing on a yummy cake. This was absolutely the best trip we ever had! Thanks again, OBBR, and kudos to a great staff.
With love, Iona Unit

What? Kirk Douglas at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort?! Well, we may not have the illustrious cleft-chinned movie star, but we do have Spartaco – a name some of the
world ’s jet-setters may remember as the maitre’d and manager of the world-famous La Samanna Hotel. We are thrilled to introduce our owners to the new manager of Infinity, one of
our two on-site restaurants.
Sargentoni Spartaco started his career on St. Maarten 30 years ago at La Samanna, where he rubbed elbows with the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Diana Ross. These
legends not only loved the island and helped make La Samanna a celebrated destination resort for the really rich and famous, they also frequented its sister resort, Oyster Pond Yacht Club (our
predecessor), where Spartaco spent some time as chef and manager.
Later he owned and operated his own restaurant, lovingly remembered as Spartaco’s (naturally), a popular gathering place for high-end visitors and Islanders alike to
eat and drink into the night. He forged a great reputation as not only a fine island restaurateur but as a much beloved and upstanding citizen.
We are delighted that this experienced professional has agreed to come to our resort, where his gentle personality is welcomed by our staff and guests. With Spartaco at the
helm, we are confident that Infinity will reach even greater culinary and entertainment heights.
He has already changed the menu and improved the cuisine immensely, offering pasta and fresh seafood dishes infused with Mediterranean and Italian flavors.
As our resort expands, Spartaco, Infinity and Beau Beau’s will continue to prosper and strive for continual enhancements. During your next trip to our resort, you
should definitely make it a point to meet Spartaco and try out the wonderful offerings we have at both restaurants! |
